Michael Lasalandra

Michael Lasalandra is a veteran journalist who has covered medicine and health care for the Boston Herald, Palm Beach Post and Miami News. He is currently free-lancing and his articles have appeared in the Boston Globe, among other publications.

Lasalandra is also the author of The Sensitive Gut, which won the Will Solimene Award of Excellence in 2002 from the American Medical Writers Association, New England Chapter.

Since leaving the Boston Herald in 2003 after 10 years as senior medical writer, Lasalandra has done projects for a number of clients, including the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Medicine, the Boston Public Health Commission, the International Foundation for Functional Gastrointestinal Disorders, Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Massachusetts, and the Massachusetts Medical Society.

He has also had articles published in Sexuality Reproduction & Menopause, a publication of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine; Southern California Physician; Harvard Public Health Now; and New England Nursing Magazine. Lasalandra is a graduate of the Boston University College of Communication.

I was diagnosed with prostate cancer in the spring of 2003. I was 53 years old.
